General Practitioner (GP)
The GP is a family doctor who provides medical care to all patients registered at the practice.
- He liaises with the Midwife and the Health Visitor to provide antenatal care and care for all children under 5.
- He liaises with the District Nurses who provide nursing care in the community.
- Oversees the management of the Practice with the Practice Manager
- Provides Out of Hours cover via Chorley Medics at Euxton
Midwife
A midwife has been specially trained to care for mothers and babies throughout normal pregnancy, labour and birth. A midwife usually works either in hospital (midwifery unit) or is attached to a a GPs practice.
Midwives are involved in giving antenatal care, attending home births,delivering babies in hospital. The midwife may accompany the pregnant woman to hospital. She will continue to look after the patient and her baby at home until she hands over the care to the Health Visitor at between 10 and 28 days after the birth. The midwife will give you a contact number in case there are any problems
Health Visitor
A Health Visitor is a fully qualified nurse who has had extra training in caring for people in the community. Her role is to help families especially those with very young children. The Health Visitor will visit the patient at home sometime after your baby is 10 days old.
- She will give you information about feeding as well as general health and safety.
- She will give information on feeding, general health and safety.
- She will offer advice and support if you have any problems
- She will continue to look after your child until he/she is 5 years old
- She will visit you at home and will also be available at the surgery weekly
- She will attend the surgery for Health Checks, liaising with the GPs
District Nurses
District Nurses are fully qualified nurses who provide nursing care in the community.
- They liaise closely with the GPS to ensure continuity of care
- They also liaise with the hospitals to continue care after discharge
Practice Nurse
Pat Grime is responsible for the nursing care in the surgery. She is available by appointment on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. The following are some of her many skilled duties:

- Wound checks and dressings
- Various clinical tests requested by the Doctors.
