If you are age 40-74 years’ old, the surgery offers you a free NHS Health Check. This appointment will be with our healthcare assistant for approximately 20 minutes.
In that time, the HCA will;
- Have a general chat with you about your health and lifestyle. You will be asked about your family history of any diseases, smoking and alcohol status and your diet and physical activity.
- Measure your height and weight to check your BMI.
- Check your blood pressure.
- May take bloods to check your cholesterol.
In just 20 minutes of your time, the HCA will discuss your results with you. You will be given advice on how to lower your risk of stroke, dementia, heart disease and diabetes.
